Bio

 

 

During the 2009 - 2010 season, Corinne Schaefer was a Resident Artist at the prestigious Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, where she sang the roles of Nanetta in Falstaff, staged by director Tito Capobianco, Musetta in La Bohème, staged by director Dottie Danner, and Clotilde in Norma. 2010 also marked her debut with Opera Naples as Die Königin der Nacht in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte.  She ended the season as a Studio Artist with Opera New Jersey, where she performed with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and covered the role of Norina in Don Pasquale.  

 

Fall of 2010 brought Corinne to Spain, where she participated in Montserrat Caballé's masterclasses, The Architecture of Sound.  In 2011, Corinne was recognized by both the Palm Beach Opera Vocal Competition and Opera at Florham Violetta DuPont Vocal Competition with encouragement awards, she was also selected as a finalist in The Fritz and Lavinia Jensen Foundation Vocal Competition.  Most recently she advanced in the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Vienna, Austria.

 

In the summer of 2009, Corinne performed the role of Beth in the European debut of Mark Adamo's Little Women in Brugge, Belgium as part of the Intermezzo Music Festival.  Other summer festival performances include engagements with the Amadeus Opernensemble Salzburg in Salzburg, Austria where she performed the roles of Die Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte, and Adele in Die Fledermaus. While in Salzburg she was heard in concert performing the works of Mozart, Paisiello, and Salieri.  An avid performer of art song, Corinne has performed a variety of concerts and recitals throughout Austria, Italy, and the States, including collaborations with pianist Earl Buys.

 

A graduate from Indiana University, Jacobs School of Music, Corinne received a BM in vocal performance.  After graduation, she performed with the Pacific Opera Company in a number of concerts throughout New Jersey, Washington DC, and New York city, including her Carnegie Hall debut (Weil Hall). With Pacific Opera she also sang the role of Gretel in Humperdink's Hänsel und Gretel. 

 

Other awards include an Encouragement Award from the Gerda Lissner International Vocal Competition in 2009.  In 2008, Corinne won 2nd place in the National Opera Association Vocal Competition in LA, 3rd place in the FAVA Grand Concours de Chant, and 2nd place in the Violetta DuPont Vocal Competition.
