Corinne Schaefer, Soprano
Corinne Schaefer is an alumnus of the prestigious Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, where she sang the roles of Nanetta in Falstaff, staged by director Tito Capobianco, Musetta in La Bohème, staged by director Dottie Danner, and Clotilde in Norma. In recent seasons, Corinne made her debut with Opera Naples as Die Königin der Nacht in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte. She performed the role of Beth in the European premiere of Mark Adamo's Little Women in Brugge, Belgium as part of the Intermezzo Music Festival, and was a Studio Artist with Opera New Jersey, where she performed with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and covered the role of Norina in Don Pasquale. Other summer festival performances include engagements with the Amadeus Opernensemble Salzburg in Salzburg, Austria where she performed the roles of Die Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte, and Adele in Die Fledermaus. Recent performances include Olympia, in Les Contes d’Hoffman, with Vertical Player Repertory, and Gretel, in Hansel and Gretel, with New York Lyric Opera Theatre. For the past two years Corinne performed in the German production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera, at Stage Theater Neue Flora, Hamburg, where she covered the role of Carlotta. Corinne performed the role of the dramatic diva, Carlotta, 114 times!
Corinne has performed a variety of concerts and recitals throughout Austria, Germany, Italy, and the United States. While in Salzburg she was heard in concert performing the works of Mozart, Paisiello, and Salieri in her program, Mozart: Friends and Enemies. Corinne has appeared as a soloist with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra for their Summer Concert Series, with Bucks County Symphony as the soloist in the Fauré Requiem, and for a series of concerts for Opera New Jersey and Opera at Florham.
A graduate from Indiana University, Jacobs School of Music, Corinne received a BM in vocal performance. She has participated in masterclasses with Edda Moser, Montserrat Caballé, Virginia Zeani, and Maria Chiara. She has studied with Patricia Wise, Ashley Putnam, and Reri Grist.
Corinne’s awards include: 1st prize in Haßloch Meisterkurs La Primavera in 2013, finalist in the 2012 Liederkranz Competition, Advancement in the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in 2011 along with Encouragement awards from The Fritz and Lavinia Jensen Foundation, Palm Beach Opera Vocal Competition, and the Opera at Florham Vocal Competition. In 2009, She received an Encouragement Award from the Gerda Lissner International Vocal Competition, and finally, in 2008, Corinne won 2nd place in the National Opera Association Vocal Competition, 3rd place in the FAVA Grand Concours de Chant, and 2nd place in the Violetta DuPont Vocal Competition. Corinne co-manages Opera On Tap Hamburg and is the co-founder of Creative OPERAtions.
