ABOUT

Soprano Corinne Schaefer is known for her "versatility and impressive vocal range." Corinne performed in the German production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera, at Stage Theater Neue Flora, Hamburg, where she covered the role of Carlotta.  Corinne performed the role of the dramatic diva, Carlotta, 114 times!  Other roles include Die Königin der Nacht in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte with Opera Naples, Beth in the European premiere of Mark Adamo's Little Women in Brugge, Belgium as part of the Intermezzo Music Festival, Olympia, in Les Contes d’Hoffman, with Vertical Player Repertory, Gretel, in Hansel and Gretel, with New York Lyric Opera Theatre, Nanetta in Falstaff, Musetta in La Bohème, and Clotilde in Norma, with The Academy of Vocal Arts, and Norina in Don Pasquale as a Studio Artist with Opera New Jersey.

 

On the concert stage, Corinne has appeared as a soloist with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Polizeichor Hamburg, Bucks County Symphony, Opera New Jersey, Opera at Florham, and on the behalf of the US Consulate in Hamburg.  She has performed a variety of concerts and recitals throughout Germany, Austria, Italy, and the United States.

 

In the Summer of 2019, inspired by creating new and exciting productions, Corinne Schaefer and Sashell Beck co-founded Creative OPERAtions in Hamburg, Germany. It was later decided that Creative OPERAtions would change its focus from the German market to the American market, and the non-profit was dissolved and reestablished as a Non-Profit 501 (c)(3) in New Jersey in 2022 by Corinne Schaefer. The goal of Creative OPERAtions is to produce creative collaborations that bridge the gap between traditional artistic genres, breaking down the stereotypes and redefining the perceptions that surround them. 

Corinne launched the podcast Create Outside the Box! in 2021.  In keeping with Creative OPERAtions' mission, Corinne sits down with artists who are leading by example, breaking down barriers, and creating outside the box. The podcast also shares a special behind the scenes look of Brooke deRosa's Alice in Wonderland, where she talks with the artists and creatives who are bringing this piece to life! 

 

In the Fall of 2016, Corinne along with Sashell Beck, founded Opera On Tap Hamburg the second international chapter of the Opera On Tap franchise.  Opera On Tap Hamburg received critical acclaim from NDR, Klassik Radio, and Concerti.de.  In October of 2017, they had the european premiere of Liam Wade and Vynnie Meli's one act opera, Boy loses Girl (in the Beer Tent), which later went on to great success at Semper Zwei at Semperoper Dresden.

Corinne’s awards include: 1st prize in Haßloch Meisterkurs La Primavera in 2013, finalist in the 2012 Liederkranz Competition, Advancement in the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in 2011 along with Encouragement awards from The Fritz and Lavinia Jensen Foundation, Palm Beach Opera Vocal Competition, and the Opera at Florham Vocal Competition. In 2009, she received an Encouragement Award from the Gerda Lissner International Vocal Competition, and finally, in 2008, Corinne won 2nd place in the National Opera Association Vocal Competition, 3rd place in the FAVA Grand Concours de Chant, and 2nd place in the Violetta DuPont Vocal Competition. 

Corinne Schaefer is a graduate from Indiana University, Jacobs School of Music, where she received a BM in vocal performance. She is also an alumnus of the prestigious Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. She has participated in masterclasses with Edda Moser, Montserrat Caballé, Virginia Zeani, and Maria Chiara. She has studied with Patricia Wise, Ashley Putnam, and Reri Grist.
